Frequently Asked Questions
- I am a very awkward size; can you make a dress to fit me? Every dress I make is made to fit the individual size and shape of the client. The dress is made up into a toile first and then fitted to you. It doesn't matter what shape or size you are.
- I have a style of dress in mind that isn't in your collection. Would you be able to make this for me? I am always happy to incorporate the bride's ideas into the design of the dress to give them what they want. Although I will never directly copy the designs of others, I welcome brides to come to me with their own inspirations and tastes so that we can work together to create the perfect dress for them.
- Can you make a dress from my own drawings? I welcome any designs you have as they just make it easier for me to understand your individual needs. Some designs may need to be altered in style so that they can be effectively transferred from a drawing into working design.
- How long will it take to make my wedding dress? Every dress will vary but usually I aim to complete a garment within a three week timescale. This does not however take into account the whole design process or time between fittings?
- How much will one of your dresses cost me? As every dress is individual and unique, so too is its cost. The value of the dress greatly varies depending on fabrics, shape, decoration and intricacy. Covered in the cost of the dress is the original drawing of the design and patterns, a toile of the dress and all fitting sessions. Once your dress has been designed I can then provide a quote based on that design. Baring in mind the work that goes into a made to measure dress, the price range starts at around £1500, however if you are working on a smaller budget, please do contact me and we can discuss other viable options.
- What if I change my mind about the design once you have started making it? My first priority is to make sure you have the dress you want. If for some reason you want to change the design of the dress during the construction process, please let me know ASAP and I will try to accommodate these changes. This will result in an excess charge to cover the costs of any extra fabrics and time spent changing the design.
- How far in advance of my wedding day must I book? This is a fairly variable thing. The wedding industry being a seasonal event, it is more likely that I will have more available time over the winter period and therefore require less notice. Generally, I will ask that you book as far in advance as you are able to, preferably giving me at least six months notice. If you don't have this much notice time but are still interested in having a dress made by me, then please give me a call or send me a message; you never know unless you ask and I am always happy to speak you.
